Rising star Jade Jackson is a rare kind of young artist; a talented songwriter and musician with a gifted voice and the ability to create songs that tell stories. This is something that can only be said of a handful of others today, namely Margo Price and Nikki Lane, who truly embody the spirit of country music, as does Jackson.

A born storyteller, Jackson has produced a record which is rich with experience and reminiscent of the slow, melancholic style of country greats such as Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. Her first LP, Gilded, is a stunning debut and features eleven outstanding compositions. Opener “Aden” is a punk-infused, energised track, and is followed by a series of emotionally charged country ballads. “Troubled End” draws on traditional country and rockabilly rhythms and riffs, cementing Jackson’s place as one of the best new artists of the genre. This may be her first album, but it’s clear that Jackson has already perfected her sound; a sure indicator of great things to come.
